David Diringer comments in such manner that it appears glaringly evident that the Indus Valley content which is somewhat schematic and straight on the surviving engravings was initially pictographic yet it is difficult to choose whether it was really indigenous or imported. (Diringer, p.85) It plainly show that decipherment of Indus valley content is mind boggling as it a unidentified language in a unidentified content. So socio-social parts of this progress are as yet known and what is comprehended is a theory showed by the tablets, stoneware and auxiliary plan of the urban areas. Moreover the vast majority of Indus progress ruins dissipated in different pieces of Indian subcontinent, even its significant urban areas, stay to be uncovered. Because of absence of authentic information, the majority of the remains are still to be found. The main revelation, of Harappa ruins, was likewise coincidental as Charles Masson considered it Sangala, capital of Raja Porus, in his Narrative of Various Journeys in Balochistan, Afghanistan and Punjab, 1826-1838, (Dani, 1997) however its actual nature and noteworthiness was not understood until some other time. Because of these issues, it is hard for researcher to examine Indus Valley Civilization at a concentrated and broad level. References Diringer, David. Freedom Of Speech In Film Industry - Free Essay Example

Laws concerning to limit the audio-media programming is completely impractical. Even though it will help the nations to protect its culture and to oppose the outside filmmakers and their organizations to influence the nations cultures. High output movie industries are like invasive species that will affect local industries, but it is highly impossible that it will not have any effect on the set of rules and regulations in the present period of trendsetting inventions with the ongoing modernizations in the technology. China has a law in place that says that foreign films need to feature China and Chinese artists to be released in China which is a huge market. It seems practical why nations have put restrictions on the number of movies and motion pictures being distributed. By doing is it will assist local film producers to gain market for their films and will give market to the nations Celebs. Additionally, it will help protect the original culture of the country and will narrow the impact of outside movies. In Cuba, there is a complete shutdown of outside media, but people have found a way to smuggle in hard drives into the country with the latest movies and TV shows. Some radio or televisions broadcastings can be taken into consideration like the content which they are displaying will be proper for that particular nation but for others that might be inconsiderate as everyone from that nation will be hearing or watching that content which considers teenagers and adults and while growing up they may make wrong choices by what the watch on the televisions or heard from the radio. The expansion of online media, in my opinion, will not affect local creators as it involves jumping through more hoops to get to the content. The law to limit the audio-visual programming as of now is critical. As in the present time of technology and invention it is difficult to put in the efforts to control people from the country from using internet to watch the videos or shows which are being restricted, internet is of great use to the individuals to break these laws. Different kinds of softwares are being used to play around with the VPNs or Proxy Servers which gives choices to the citizens to remove the obstructions of what they can or cannot watch. Examples of VPNs being used is that a lot of time there is an illegal download of movies, songs or any type of digital media and that will make it exponentially harder to follow and track. Because of this the movies which are on restrictions or are banned by the government are also being viewed. Companies also have a list of boycotted IP addresses to which they have restricted their employees to go or search for. But due the emerging technology they can also be easily avoided with the use of VPNs, as it will cover the real IP with a virtua l IP that is being used in the other part of the world. One Example of it is that you can mask your IP address to hide your location history when you are using social media applications where they track your accurate locations, by doing so the IP address will not show the current location but ii will allow to use a location where you are not present. The use of proxy servers is so widespread that there is no stopping for them, they are hard to trace and extremely hard to block. However, a free exchange of ideas is important since competition brings about improvement. Laws and restrictions being applied will not intimidate people in todays upcoming tech savvy world to stop the use of the modern technology. As it is completely out of control to stop an individual from watching or hearing to the broadcasting being made it will be great if they are being taught of what is good and bad for playing a short video before movies to let them know what content is going to be displayed on the screen. An example how the movies have the ratings of PG-13 or R where you can distinguish of whether it is a family movie or an adult movie. Doing this will help the government to let their citizens distinguish between which content is appropriate for them and which is not.

Maximum security prisons contain perpetrators of serious crimes who are serving long sentences. An offshoot of the maximum security prison, the supermax, was developed in response to prisoner violence. There are several distinguishing features of each prison type that beg further exploration. The rooms inmates live in, often referred to as dormitory-style, are usually the most comf ortable in the prison system. They have communal showers, toilets and sinks. This is where the business teams conduct research on the market to see what new trends are happening. According to the case, the 2007 Summer designs were quite sheer. For example, when the business people provide feedback to the designers after observing the designs and styles, the meetings tend to get heated with everyone expressing their opinions. To ensure that there is progression being made toward the vision of the organization, goal setting and feedback should be used. According to Gary Lathem, using goal setting theory can be one of the most practical ways of increasing employee motivation (2009, p. 159). In providing both positive SMART goals and positive feedback to designers, this will help increase â€Å"the organization’s performance, followers’ performance, and followers’ attitudes† (Kirkpatrick, 2009. p. 368). The Ethics And Morals Of A Doll s House Essay - 1559 Words

Liberty and happiness are inexorably linked and positively correlated. Through the lens of the protagonist, Nora, Henrik Ibsen, in A Doll’s House, criticizes nineteenth-century European society’s moral, laws, and social structures for their deleterious effects on freedom, happiness, and self-determination. Specifically, the characters of Nora, Krogstad, Torvald, Dr. Rank, and Mrs. Linde lack freedom and happiness because of society’s backwards gender roles, moral righteousness, and an excessive concern with vanity; all of these characters’ lives are shaped by circumstance, not choice. By the novel’s conclusion, the ethics and morals of a discriminatory society are challenged and rebuked by each character in their pursuit to achieve freedom and happiness. Nora is the quintessential nineteenth-century European women, she possesses â€Å"the cardinal virtues of piety, purity, domesticity, and submissiveness† (Backman 735). Her husband, Torvald, provides for her, and in return she accepts her subordinate role as a housewife and mother. However, this superficially tranquil marriage is one constructed on guilt and duplicity. Nora and Torvald’s union was not spawned out of love and free-will, rather Nora was compelled to wed Torvald because he opted not to jail Nora’s father for criminal activities (Ibsen 35). Nora, despite outward appearances, did not enjoy being a wife to a man she considered a â€Å"stranger† (Ibsen 71). However, due to social pressures, she birthed his children andShow MoreRelatedAnalysis Of Henrik Ibsen s A Doll House 1823 Words   |  8 PagesA Doll House is a play that was written by Henrik Ibsen in 1879. Invisible Man Argumentative Essay Example For Students

Invisible Man Argumentative Essay The constraints described in  «The Invisible Man » imply we live in a country that is divided by race, ethnicity, religion and class (prejudices towards differences). A person’s life is then heavily shaped around these perimeters. Some in the minority unfortunately try to deny these barriers to entry of the American elite by ignoring warnings and repressing past and present disparities and replacing them with hope. This behavior is brought forth by the natural defiance of a human to not be made believe that he is inferior, and from the confusion between the meanings of the laws of desegregation and social integration. The story of the Invisible Man describes the hardship and reality this path leads an African American, and in reality to many Minority-Americans. The first thing our reading points out is how divided Americans are and the reasons. The most basic fact is that the majority of American citizens are white of European ancestry. As in any other country, the majority rules. In this country the majority also enjoys the contributions of their minority (from slaves to modern sweat shops, to the front lines of war, music, sports, etc). To keep receiving these benefits laws are set that enable for such activities to occur. Americans will bend over backwards when some economic or political interest is made relevant to them (WTO’s real intentions for example). However, it is taboo for a white person to assimilate into a minority culture making minorities non-American. Since 1607 whites have been melting together and have homogenized the American way of life. The laws for the American way of life place the Northern Europeans on the top with all other whites under them, then all other minorities and last the black man. This can be seen throughout all of our business and political establishments. Minorities are still urged to give it heir best, but their best in never respected. Even when blacks or other minorities make it into political positions of prestige, they must always watch their backs and be careful not to be discharged for not conforming. If minorities, especially blacks, do decide to conform, whites ridicule them further. They are not treated with the same comradery or given access to memberships of facilities that foster the most successful of Americans. They are psychologically abused by being made feel that they are doing the right thing but not good enough. Examples of achievements by other blacks are hung before them. But when they make it, they realize that there is nothing for them. All other races also ridicule the conformant. They label him a sell out and a hypocrite. The African-American is then put into a no-win situation. Unlike other minorities blacks born in America do not have a culture to fall back on, be proud of, and call their own. There is a missing link between the African and the black born in America. White Americans do not have a culture, but they pretend to have one by flaunting their power, money and possessions. The African American was denied the practice his own African culture during the time Africans first arrived in this country. Then there were hundreds of years of attempts to assimilate into the American culture, which increasingly burned the bridge to Africa. Today they are told that they do not have a culture unless poverty is considered one, or that what they do practice is not a socially acceptable culture (by whites of course). This leaves blacks in America nowhere. All blacks in America have to call their own is the horrifying memories of their ancestors within the last three hundred years. All they have to look forward to is the continual destruction of their race in America. .u851712bc6cea36089689fd14498ab7e7 , .u851712bc6cea36089689fd14498ab7e7 .postImageUrl , .u851712bc6cea36089689fd14498ab7e7 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u851712bc6cea36089689fd14498ab7e7 , .u851712bc6cea36089689fd14498ab7e7:hover , .u851712bc6cea36089689fd14498ab7e7:visited , .u851712bc6cea36089689fd14498ab7e7:active { border:0!important; } .u851712bc6cea36089689fd14498ab7e7 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u851712bc6cea36089689fd14498ab7e7 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u851712bc6cea36089689fd14498ab7e7:active , .u851712bc6cea36089689fd14498ab7e7:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u851712bc6cea36089689fd14498ab7e7 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u851712bc6cea36089689fd14498ab7e7 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u851712bc6cea36089689fd14498ab7e7 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u851712bc6cea36089689fd14498ab7e7 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u851712bc6cea36089689fd14498ab7e7:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u851712bc6cea36089689fd14498ab7e7 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u851712bc6cea36089689fd14498ab7e7 .u851712bc6cea36089689fd14498ab7e7-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u851712bc6cea36089689fd14498ab7e7:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Federalism EssayIn the end, the black middle class is made to feel invisible, as if they do not exist. And the poor black class is looked at as the enemy of our America. Our forefathers tried to warn blacks, but the passages of the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments have confused many into thinking that whites do want to assimilate ( just not all of them). Unfortunately there is a misconception about these laws. These laws are desegregation laws, not social integration laws. But because they did not say, they were viewed as the ticket to being American. But recent hate crimes tell the truth. Many whites today do not consider themselves racist. They feel that they are equal and fair. But they are blind. Their upbringing has systematically taught them that they have unspoken privileges and that they must always protect them. Until they are willing to admit that they are racist and that they must do something, the equal distribution of power to all races and ethnicity’s will not occur. The United States tells the world it stands for freedom and equality. But we know that the unspoken truth is that their will always be a barriers to education, access to capital and economic freedom for blacks and minorities.

IELTS Writing Advantages And A Speak Advantage

IELTS Writing Advantages And A Speak AdvantageAn IELTS Writing advantage and an IELTS speaking disadvantage are two different things, and they have to be taken into consideration when you write your first academic essay. These two types of exam results are different from each other in terms of length, and you should also remember that speaking an IELTS test is not always easier than writing one.The main difference between speaking and writing is that while writing requires great amounts of knowledge and ability to form a coherent sentence and have clear communication, speaking does not. Speaking requires hearing the language and using it at least a few times during the day, and an IELTS speaking advantage is one that can help you with this. Also, if you are able to understand and converse with native speakers, you can also speak with a native speaker and ask them questions, which could even prove beneficial to your overall score. While speaking an IELTS writing exam might seem easy, y ou still need to know some basic writing skills. Always keep in mind that you need to study grammar and punctuation. Your aim is to get a high score and write about what you want to talk about. Keep in mind that a good English writing tutorial will help you a lot when it comes to this subject. One way to score better in your IELTS speaking test is to listen to native speakers who take the IELTS test, and this could also work for your speaking test. You might want to check out a library or search for groups or forums where native speakers meet, and you could take the opportunity to ask them questions on your topic. One last thing that you can do to score higher in your IELTS speaking test is to practice practicing your speech. This means that you need to practice reading and writing your sentences and paragraphs, and you need to practice saying them aloud and out loud, so that you could hear how you say them and how you sound. Remember that although speaking and writing may seem easy a nd natural, practicing it in a group or in front of other people would help you immensely in this area.If you are interested in a higher IELTS speaking score, you can also consider taking professional coaching. These professional IELTS speaking coaches offer to help their students with their speech, and they also help them with their writing skills. A coach is like a language teacher who can help you become a better speaker, and he/she can also help you with your writing. It is important to remember that most IELTS speaking tests are quite short, and you need to spend a little more time practicing before you take the test. You need to devote a certain amount of time to learning how to talk properly and how to read and write. With practice, you will find that your skills will improve and you will soon be ready to go.In order to prepare yourself for your IELTS speaking test, you need to start now. Whether you are speaking or writing, you need to be focused, and you need to practice wha t you learned. Practice makes perfect, and you do not want to miss out on this test because you did not take the time to prepare yourself.

Cults Essays (1867 words) - Adventism, Waco Siege, Apocalypticists

Cults On November 18, 1978, in a cleared-out patch of the Guyanese jungle, Reverend Jim Jones ordered the 911 members of his flock to kill themselves by drinking a cyanide potion, and they did. It seems cultists were brainwashed by this megalomaniac Jones, who had named their jungle village after himself and held them as virtual slaves, if not living zombies. Jones himself was found dead. He'd shot himself in the head, or someone else had shot him. Is it plausible that more than nine hundred people took their own lives willingly, simply because he told them to? This paper will examine aspects of certain religious groups around the world that have shocked us with similar types of behavior. Most of these groups have been categorized into what we refer to as cults. While most of these new religious groups are extremely passive in their methodology, it is my objective to look at those that have gone outside the boundaries of our norms and done such things as mass suicide and acts of terrorism. I will try to understand how the leaders of these groups are able to persuade members to give up all of their possessions and in some cases their lives. What causes people to remove themselves from their jobs, and families? A cult is any group of people who surround themselves around a strong authority figure. Cults, like many other groups, attempt to expand their influence for the purposes of power or money. However, to achieve these ends, destructive cults employ a potent mixture of influence and deception over members and new recruits. Using methods such as brainwashing, thought reform, and mind control. A successful conversion into a destructive cult removes a person's former identity and replaces it with a new one. This is where the new member accepts all of the beliefs of his new group and a new identity is created. However once a member of the group, any deviation from the cult leader's teachings is strictly forbidden. Individuality is suppressed, and subject to fear and suspicion of everyone around in the group. What could cause people to join such groups when it is common knowledge that these groups are known to go against the norms of our society? Many of those who study these groups say that people tend to be more susceptible to manipulation in times of major change and crisis. During the 1960s there was an explosion of these new religious groups such as the Hare Krishna and Transcendental Meditation. A decade later, the human potential movement emerged, teaching self-awareness and consciousness expansion. Groups with self-styled s like Charles Manson, David Koresh, and Marshall Applewhite have flourished, teaching impending doom, using mixtures from Christianity, millennialism and even science fiction. Most of those who join these groups, do not join them with the intention of becoming a cultist, they are usually seeking a new religious group, or a self-help group, looking for some improvement in their lives. It is the group that they join that play on the individuals insecurities and giving them some sense of order and a reason for their existence in the world. There have been many religious groups that have caught the medias attention with their deviant behavior such as the members of Jonestown. Here are some other examples that will illustrate the complete dominance that the leaders were able to hold over the members of the cult. David Koreshs Religious group, known as the Davidian is one of the more familiar cuts during the past decade. On February 28, 1993, Storm Troopers of the ATF tried to enter the Branch Davidian compound in the outskirts of Waco, Texas, where David Koresh and his followers had set up their haven. The compound was stockpiled with weapons that were to be used for a holy war that the had claimed would be coming soon. David and his followers vowed there would be no surrender. For 51 days there was a standoff between the cult, and the ATF. The doomsday prophet promised to bring forth an apocalypse for all those with him in the compound. When the ordeal over 90 people were dead. Many of the survivors blame the U.S government for their attack on the

General Knowledge Testing Essay Topics

General Knowledge Testing Essay TopicsGeneral Knowledge Test Essay Topics is not the only method that is used to test an individual's knowledge. They may also include one of the question types like word, composite, cross-word, and multiple choice. In addition, they can also include math, language arts, geography, history, business, and several other subjects. In addition, the essay can also include the discussion questions which test an individual's vocabulary, analytical skills, and ability to formulate ideas. As with any type of testing, there are certain differences that will need to be taken into consideration when writing an essay. For example, the essay should address many different issues. It should also provide the option for the student to answer the questions in a different way from the general rules in order to provide more flexibility to the essay. This is important because it allows the student to build on and expand upon their knowledge.A test may be a general knowledge testing essay topic if the subject area has already been discussed on the testing program. However, this type of essay may also be considered a general testing essay topic if the subject matter is new or very basic. For example, an English test may be written about the advantages of going to school, a French test about the food benefits of buying organic, and an American History test would be written about the political influences that have shaped our nation. Before beginning to write your essay, you will want to determine whether you will use a test or a discussion format. If you choose a test format, your essay should focus on a topic that is easily discussed in a conversation or a discussion forum. In addition, you will want to include as much personal information as possible that will relate to the topic you will be covering. If you choose a test format, you may want to write about the same topic that was covered in the discussion and test. This gives the student a chance to expla in their thoughts and how the information relates to their expertise. You may also want to include additional information and details. The purpose of this writing format is to provide the student with an overview of what they will learn during the test and an opportunity to explain the information. There is no real right or wrong answer, but the most logical answer is always to the point and provides the best example of a solution.Using a test format gives the student an opportunity to focus on a specific topic and to create an overview. It also allows the student to highlight the points that are most important. If you were to use a discussion format, the student would be required to write an essay that goes over the highlights of what they learned from the test and the other material that they learned. It is common practice to put the questions that are included in the test at the end of the discussion so that the student can gather the information. Some examples of questions inclu de: 'Explain how this piece of information is important to the final conclusion.'When writing your essay, you will want to make sure that you are fully preparing the best questions. You may want to gather resources and try to gather as much information about the topic and the exam as possible. All of these preparation activities will help you prepare for the testing process so that you can get the most out of your testing experience.

A Dolls House Essays (477 words) - Explication, Literary Criticism

A Doll's House Essays (477 words) - Explication, Literary Criticism A Doll's House Explication of Dudley Randalls The Melting Pot An explication is an interpretation of a written work. They differ from person to person in that we all dont interpret things alike. It seems to me that we learned in high school about literature and such was a waste of memorizing and testing because we were taught only right answers about written works. There is no right way to interpret an authors work. What they do is leave doors open to make you think about their work. Even a songwriter does the same thing. Songs can be even more difficult to interpret than a poem or story because the first that thing usually attracts us to a song is the music and that is what we concentrate on mostly. Then a question comes about in my mind that why there has to be any answers or meaning to a work. Why cant I just enjoy a poem for the way it sounds when it is read aloud? Why cant I just enjoy a song for the way the words are put together and enjoy the music? It can be fun sometimes to analyze a work and pick out things like wonderful metaphors. I can see where that comes in to literature. What I hate is when I read a really great story and I enjoy it and then I go to class and get hounded for answers and I give them and theyre not right because I felt different about a story than someone else. Well, anyway, Im going to do the best explication I can of Dudley Randalls The Melting Pot on page 693. Bartorillo 2 The Melting Pot seems to be about anyone and everyone being accepted as Americans except Blacks. The second set of four lines is kind of funny because it gives you several names that sound un-American and when they come to be an American they lose that and use a more American version of their name. Even when people came through Ellis Island they usually took a different name or made theirs shorter to be more American. The next four lines read about a Black man who is unaccepted as an American even though hes been there waiting for it. The poem seems to say that no matter where youre from if youre white you can become a white American no matter what country youre from. It seems to say that were divided into Whites and Blacks regardless of nationalities. The end of the poem is where Blacks decide that theyre going to be who they are and be proud of it and they dont care about being accepted or not. So that was my own interpretation of a poem. Someone else might have another idea about it but that is perfectly okay because our minds work in all different ways.

However, it is much easier than trying to create an essay on a topic that you do not know much about. There are several different types of essay topics available to you. You can include a major theme in your essay, but you will need to find out how you are going to apply the topic to a more personal perspective. It is certainly not about getting divorced! There are several ways that you can focus your essay to the topic of the divorce. When writing your essay, there are several topics that you can look for that will allow you to include your own personal viewpoint. For example, if you want to be able to include the topic of why people get divorced you can try a question that asks you to identify the reasons for why people choose to get divorced. The first question that you will need to ask yourself as you begin your research is whether or not you really want to include a focus of your essay on these potential essay topics. Abraham Lincoln, Slavery and the Civil War Essay

Abraham Lincoln, Slavery and the Civil War - Essay Example As a leader from the Republican Party, Lincoln faced a number of challenges; there were demands by the republicans for harsher and cruel treatment against the South, extension of compromise towards the war democrats and last but not least, copperheads hated him. Hence South Carolina seceded from the union on December 20th 1860, followed by six states namely: Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia and Florida. The six states went ahead and formed the confederate states of America with Jefferson Davis, senator from Mississippi elected as their provisional president. In the beginning of the civil war, union victory required Lincoln to address the problem of slavery, as majority of the whites were anti-black (Johnson 113). Preventing the formal foreign recognition of the confederacy, building a citizen’s army that was ready to fight and die for the union, raising the American economy to meet the vast war needs and dealing with hatred by his people without infringing their democratic rights on which the nation built were Lincoln’s goals.... ditionally, the northern free blacks encouraged Lincoln to support slave rebellion and called for him to issue an emancipation proclamation (Johnson 134). Lincoln’s cabinet also advised him to wait till the union’s emphatic victory had happened, to announce the emancipation proclamation lest it would appear as an act of desperation. Its issue meant that all the slaves from the confederacy states began rebelling. They abandoned works at the farms and industries and mass action demanding their freedom and rights as human beings and citizens’ of the United States of America. Lincoln issued the emancipation proclamation in order to cripple the Southern labour force and render them vulnerable. Emancipation proclamation was to free all the black slaves. Union states such as Kentucky, Missouri, New Orleans, Tennessee and Maryland rejected the move. Moreover, the moment Lincoln gave the 100 day period for the emancipation proclamation before it would go into effect, he w ent ahead and offered individual members from the confederate states three months gross period to rejoin the union. This meant that they would continue to enjoy the services slaves within their borders enjoyed. In conclusion, during the preliminary emancipation proclamation it is so clear that Lincoln goal was to end the civil war because, limitations included: not freeing all the slaves, and not overstepping constitutional authority. In the final Emancipation proclamation on Jan 1, 1863, Lincoln finally named the ten states that had not freed their slaves: Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, North Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Georgia, South Carolina, Mississippi and Arkansas.
